Barnabus and Festival Manchester We are excited to be partnering with Festival Manchester there are so many exciting opportunities for us to further our work. We will help in hosting Festival Banquet events for people experiencing homelessness. While also having the opportunity of finding up to 30 partner churches who will help us break the cycle of homelessness in people’s lives as we rehouse them out in the community through our Sustain Project. What Does Barnabus Do? Here at Barnabus we work with over 700 people each year who are experiencing homelessness and we believe in a holistic approach to end people’s homelessness that encompasses physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing. We aim to take people on a journey out of homelessness, meeting immediate needs at our support centre when someone is rough sleeping (providing food, clothing, showers, access to medical care and so much more) then helping people get established in temporary and supported accommodation and then, for those who are ready, we help people move on into their own private tenancy out in the community where they are supported by our resettlement team. It’s at the end of this journey where we have the Sustain project. This project connects churches with our clients and helps our clients get established and successfully sustain their own tenancy. We believe the church is ideally placed to help break the cycle of homelessness. Housing people does not fix homelessness, it helps and will always be a key, but it’s the wrap around support and connection to local community that ultimately means people will leave their old lifestyle behind and be successful in their home. As part of Festival Manchester, Barnabus are delighted to inspire, inform and journey with Christians who are exploring the part they can play in helping us to end homelessness in Manchester. How Can You Help? Volunteering - We are hosting a series of outreach banquets in the weeks leading up to the Festival – one for women at St Philips Salford and one for men at Audacious Church. If you’d like to volunteer at either of these events then email [email protected] to find out more. Partnership - Could your church join the Sustain Project? We need a minimum commitment of 4 people plus a team leader to create a sustain team. We will train the team and provide ongoing support as they begin to help a person back into independent living. Email [email protected] to find out more. Donate items - Could you or your church donate the items we urgently need to continue supporting our friends experiencing homelessness? Please find our full list of urgently needed items here. Pray for us - Would you like to hear about our prayer needs and news from Barnabus? Please email [email protected] to sign up. You can read our marketing terms and conditions here. Are you a Church leader? Barnabus is passionate about inspiring the local church to help us end homelessness in Manchester. We resource all our faith based activity at Barnabus through our Dwell project. The Dwell project connects us with our supporting churches and helps us to achieve our vision: to empower people in to a home in Christ’s love. With dedicated resources, speakers, training and up-to-date local information regarding the existing needs in the city around homelessness, we can help you to explore the part your church could play. What is Festival Manchester? Festival Manchester is an initiative of the Message Trust, the Luis Palau association and hundreds of local churches, businesses, and organisations. It seeks to reach all aspects of society with the gospel of Jesus. Through its ‘Love Where U Live’ initiative it is focusing on, fostering and adoption, the environment, social action, food poverty and, through its partnership with Barnabus - homelessness. This will culminate in a region wide major festival in Wythenshawe Park in Manchester in July 2022.
