Homelessness is devastating at any time of year but at Christmas, when Manchester is full of party goers and people shopping for loved ones, the difference between those that have and those that don’t, is sadly easy to see. We know you want to make a difference so we've come up with some suggestions of how you can help bring Joy at this special time of year.

Give Hope to people sleeping rough in our city – tell them about Barnabus
Barnabus support some of the most hard to reach people in our City and the harsh winter months are particularly life threatening for anyone on the streets. If you see someone sleeping rough spending a moment with them to show you care can mean so much. You could offer to buy them a hot drink or something to eat but much more than this we hope you will encourage them to come in and see us only then can we begin to improve their circumstances and give them hope for the future.

Our drop-in offers; showers, food, clothing, healthcare and activities. Our support team help with emergency accommodation, supported accommodation and we even have a resettlement worker to help people back into their own tenancies.

We can provide; a care of address, apply for new ID, help set up a bank account and connect our friends experiencing homelessness to a doctor.

Barnabus Beacon Drop in: 45 Bloom St, M1 3LY (off Princess St) we’re open Mon - Fri  am 10.30-12.30, aft 2-4pm and eve 7.45pm – 9pm Support Office: 61 Bloom St, M1 3LY is open Mon – Fri 10.30am – 12.30pm

Reverse Advent Calendar

Turn the advent calendar idea on its head. Start off with an empty box and for every day that you would usually open an advent calendar put one of our suggested long-life food or clothing items in the box instead. Your gifts will ensure we have items to help our friends in the New Year and challenging Winter period.

We hope you will join in this activity for you and your family or get together at work you’ll be surprised at how much you can collect together. To find out more click the link in the title.
