What We Do
Manchester Homelessness Charter
Barnabus is proud to be part of the Manchester Homeless Charter which launched on 9th May 2016.
Sponsored by Sir Richard Lees, Leader of Manchester City Council and The Right Reverend David Walker, Bishop of Manchester, the Charter exists to unite organisations, charities, businesses and individuals to work together to bring an end to homelessness.
The Manchester Homeless Charter isn’t just a document. Everyone who chooses to be part of it makes a pledge, a specific action designed to play a small or big part in ending homelessness.
At the launch we heard Ian Hopkins, Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police and Peter O’Reilly, County Fire Officer and Chief Executive of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue pledge not only to educate their staff about how to engage with people experiencing homelessness, but also to work with the organisations supporting the homeless.
Businesses too are asked to pledge their support in terms of their skills, staff, donations and job creation for homeless people. Individuals can pledge too; no pledge is too small.
Please visit https://charter.streetsupport.net/ to make your pledge.
We can #endhomelessness in Manchester if we all work together.
