Barnabus Big Brew

Big Brew Cakes for Barnabus

Pick a date and pop the kettle on for a fundraiser that’s everyone’s cup of tea!!

Invite friends, family and old friends you’ve not had chance to catch up with, to enjoy tea, coffee, cakes and each other’s company and at the same time raise much needed funds to help transform the lives of homeless and vulnerable people through Barnabus.

If the weather’s good maybe take your Barnabus Big Brew outdoors for a quintessentially English Picnic style tea party. Or add a theme; 50’s tea dance, vintage, mad hatters, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, superhero, Caribbean, Bond. Whatever you do, have fun!

There are lots of ways to raise funds on the day. Start by selling cakes and drinks. Encourage your friends to bake cakes for sale, organise a bake off competition with a prize for the best cake; the winning cake/s could even be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Hold a raffle, tombola, guess the weight of the cake or ask friends to pledge their time in a skills auction; i.e. car wash, gardening session, guitar lesion, manicure, hair cut etc.

If you’re feeling brave and up for a laugh at work; be a trolley dolly for the day and take cakes and tea round to colleagues. Or if you are part of a group or school you could combine your big brew with a “school style” sports fun day, baking day, arts and craft session or BBQ.

Spread the word, tell your friends

Thank you to all the lovely people who held a Barnabus Big Brew for us last year to raise funds for our brick appeal. It’s good to hear you had so much fun inviting friends to enjoy homemade cakes and catch up with each other.

Yvonne our office manager decided to take it up a notch and turn her big brew into an evening summer garden party by serving Pimm’s and Cava in posh tea cups! She also got out the Bunting and had beautifully laid tables; full of cakes and vintage tea sets. Many of you raised funds not just by selling cakes but also holding a raffle, selling handmade items and coming up with all kinds of fun ways to help friends part with any last bits of change.

Thank you all again and we hope you will hold another big brew soon.
