How You Can Help
The Barnabus Brick Appeal
Please support our Barnabus 'Brick Appeal' and help BUILD a better future for the Homeless in our City
We are delighted to share, that the time has arrived for building work to start at our drop-in. We've been given an opportunity which can't be missed, so work is scheduled to begin at the end of April, 2015.
Your generous fundraising, gifts, and donation from the Big Lottery exceeded our target of £150k, raising an incredible £172,687.44 However due to increases in the cost of building materials, we have a shortfall of just under £50k (£47,312.56).
Even so, we are stepping out in faith to start the work and God willing, despite having this shortfall of funds, we are reaching out to you to help us raise the difference, so that we can take this opportunity for building work. However we need to raise the £50k by the end of June 2015.
We're so thankful for your compassion for the homeless in our City. With God’s help and your generous support and prayers, we know that together, we will be able to complete our Drop-in extension. We are developing a support plan which we will put into place during the closure of the Beacon. Our support office will remain open 5 days a week, offering one to one support, help with accommodation, clothing, blankets, sleeping bags etc. We will also be operating street teams and working with other charities and city centre churches to ensure the needs of those we support are met during this time.

Prior to work commencing we will need to move all our existing equipment and furniture into storage. Could you offer us a dry, secure, space in the short term? We wouldn’t need access to this, until the build is completed.

More about our Brick Appeal story
Having outgrown our existing drop-in, we now need to extend and adapt our existing building to suit the growing numbers and needs of homeless people seeking our support in Manchester.
With your help, a larger drop-in will enable us to offer broader and more effective support structures, to help overcome individual circumstances and bring about long lasting change.
A place of sanctuary, community, restoring dignity and aiding recovery
Target : £150,000 to adapt existing premises
Every gift large or small is greatly appreciated and will help us rebuild and transform lives.
All “brickies”* will be invited to one of our special open days, prior to the opening of our newly renovated centre *affectionate name for our “ brick appeal” supporters
With your help, we can rebuild and transform the lives of homeless and vulnerable people in our City.
We have been in our current drop-in for 13 years but have sadly outgrown these facilities. This has largely been due to the ever increasing rise in Homelessness in our city but also motivated by our continuing desire to meet the growing needs of those we support.
We are seeking an environment which best supports and promotes change, transforming homeless and vulnerable people’s lives so that they can reach individual goals and their full potential.
All of the money raised will all be used to carry out the necessary adaptations to convert our existing building. We currently only have a domestic sized kitchen and one male and one female shower room. Our hope is to have a commercially fitted kitchen and four purpose built shower/changing cubicles. We also plan to have a larger communal area and other designated areas suitable for a range of activities. There will also be a private support room, health and wellbeing suite and storage areas for clothing and toiletries.
